The Oregon Black truffle has a bumpy exterior with a strong fruity, "banana like" taste. The Oregon Black truffle grows under Douglas- Fir trees, in a darker, more black soil, than that of Oregon White Truffle. The Oregon Black truffle grows deeper than the Oregon White Truffle, so is harder to find, meaning a more costlier truffle. The typical size of the Oregon Black truffle is that of a golf ball. The Oregon Black truffle grows in the winter months, and to insure that the truffles will ripen, should not be harvested before Thanksgiving. | |
